Got my computer!

Finally got a gaming computer! The specs are as followed:
-Intel Xeon dual Core 3.2GHz
-NVidia 8800 GT Video Card
-8GB of RAM!!
-Blu-ray player
-And I also got a 22 inch LCD monitor
-Also came with vista. which sucks!
And some games all for $420. Plus i went and bought more games afterwards. Such as the Crysis Maximum edition and Battlefield 2142.
I know Elite has 2142. What do you guys think of it.

8gb? my laptop got 184.... am i looking at wrong place?

ditto, but my laptop just sux.....

because they always release operating systems before they are done do i wold rather have xp. vista is fine, it just has more problems

i personaly love it, and i dont get many software updates

the thing i like about vista more than xp is that it supports more than 3gb of ram.

xp supports more than 3 gig of ram...u just have to have the 64 bit processor. And i hate all the windows os. Personally I'm a linux guy. But if i had the money i would be a mac guy lol. Windows in general just sucks. They never come out with anything relaly new or cool or exciting. it's like, they just wait for apple to come up with a cool idea and then 30 years later microsoft copies it haha....which would explain why there isn't really anything NEW with vista, or windows 7, it's just the same old microsoft with a new shell. What they really need to do is bring all the great thinkers and inovators from the xbox team and put them in charge of the pc's LOL

i have never tried linux, whats different about it?

hahaha EVERYTHING! Well for starters, I cannot get viruses, so I dont have to pay for anti-virus software. Um, it's all free. The os, and virtually any software for linux is free too. You can REALLY customize the way everything looks....the colors, the design, etc. You name it. I actually have my desktop set up like a MAC. Really the only thing you can't do is gamming. Most of the games out there are made for windows, and there are only a handful of games "converted" for linux. But I mean, everything just runs smoother, you don't have all the stupid error messages you will get with windows, it's faster, you don't have all the bogus software that comes with windows that you'll never you (which just slows down the computer) etc. Haha basically the question is what don't you like about windows? Chances are you wont have that problem with linux.

linux i like better for pretty much everything except gaming

Windows for gaming, Ubuntu for everything else. GNOME ftw

ubuntu is linux

split your hard drive and get both
