Re: away for a bit
I use ketchup with my ps2 games and it usually works, I haven't really had a problem with any ps3 games yet.

LoL, imagine a playstation dripping peanut butter and ketchup out of the fan, and yeah, that's a pretty accurate example.

Re: away for a bit
I think they are saying to rub those foods onto the disc, then clean them off before use (at least I have heard that of toothpaste, not sure about the others). But by the sounds of the problem you are having its not the discs, its the PS3 itself. Had the same thing the other month, PS3 would not load games or if it did would crash out / freeze up at some point, only way to restart was to turn off at the PS3, then on restart sometimes would not show the game as being inserted so had to remove and put back in. Sometimes it would show the game but then say cannot read it. Took PS3 to a shop which was supposed to service PS3's (but who knows over here) and they checked it all, cleaned it, gave it back and said nothing wrong, but games still froze (MAG froze on the first image of the soldiers prior to the THX thing) and if it made it into the game would lock up at deployment (could talk to other people who were in game, but I would be stuck at the loading page). Also blu-ray discs would freeze up after an unspecific amount of time. Anyway, long story short, had to buy / chose to buy a new one (old one was 3 - 4 years old and had a lot of use, so don't see it as a big financial issue, you replace laptops every 2 - 5 years...). Sorry I could not be the bringer or better news, but you might be screwed if its the same thing I had.

Re: away for a bit
Glad to hear you can get it sorted. Did you find any links for that information? If you did could you forward to me please, I might still be able to have my old PS3 fixed and have it as a back-up or blu-ray player in the bedroom.
